ASK Dave Question – ‘What Do You Mean Don’t Do the THING?’

,
We’ve had a question about what I mean when I say Don’t Do the Thing…
So I did a short video that helps explain What I mean… Don’t Do the Thing?….

I (Dave) explains that MOST People start a business the WRONG Way. They focus on and stay focused on the Technician. They do the ‘Thing’ the Technicians work. Fixing a Car, baking the bread, training the people etc.

WATCH VIDEO HERE:

In an ever changing (fast changing) world. As a business owner you need to be more focused on working ON your business and NOT IN your business.

As a business owner you need to develop and balance your three personalities. Most new business owners are 70% or more Technicians. AND stay that way!

The Technician – the one that focuses on and has to do the ‘thing’ the work.

The Manager – the manager looks after the procedures to get the sales happening and the bills paid.

The Entrepreneur – the part of you that needs to develop and grow.

ALWAYS ask yourself ‘How can it be done more effectively and efficiently’. ‘What else do we need’. Always be looking for systems and procedures.

Once the business has systems. Then people can be trained in the Business System and do the Technical work.

Allowing you to focus on improving the process and the profitability.

Freeing you up, so you can step back from having to be involved in the day to day operations.

When you create a real Business (not a JOB) it will become easier to manage and grow.

You need to develop your Entrepreneurial self. You need to find proven systems and learn how to integrate them.

To make the transition from Technician to Entrepreneur it is a learning process. That starts with your business education and mindset… FIRST. Then the rest will fall into place.

If you don’t you’ll be stuck ‘Doing the Thing’ until you can’t do it any longer and the income will stop as well.

Please reach out to us if you need a hand to make that transition.
