Why Watch Videos at Twice the Speed?

For most of us, time — or lack thereof — seems to be an issue. It doesn’t matter if your an entrepreneur, business owner, or a parent. We are always on the lookout for great ways to squeeze more time out of the day.

Like most of us, we love being effective with our work, and family/ me time. We like spending as much time as possible with our family. When it comes to “me” time, well…

Which is Speed Watching.

This is the act of watching videos at faster playback speeds than normal. On YouTube, Openload and with programs like VLC, you can do this by selecting your own speed of playback.
Settings to Speed up Youtube VideosWhile 1x speed would play a video at normal speed, 2x speed would play a video twice as quickly and thus save you half the time.

But What About Comprehension?

Can you watch video that’s moving that quickly and still understand what’s going on? The answer is yes, and unlike speed reading, you don’t really need any practice to get started.

Tip: Now you can’t just go from 1x speed to 2x speed. Watch the videos below and you will understand why. You have to take a natural progression. Nicky started at 1.2x speed and built the speed up. While Dave likes 1.2x speed just fine.

If you started watching all your videos at 1.2x speed today, you’d immediately save more time and not lose any comprehension at all.

As you continue to speed watch, higher speeds get easier and easier to comprehend. I’ve (Nicky) has been speed watching for the last 3 years, and feel fairly comfortable watching at 2x the normal viewing speed, with some types of videos.

Speed of Youtube VideosAt the very least 1.2x speed does save you 20% time per each video.

So to take back the lost time that you didn’t realize you had in the first place, try speed watching. It might just help you binge-watch your favorite TV shows, TED Talks, or the next education video that you want (or even required) to watch.

No, we am not suggesting you watch everything fast. But perhaps you will adapt the 1.2x speed to most of you videos, so you will understand them 20% faster. While you cannot make more time, we think this is a good time hacking method – to free up some of your previously used time.

What Entrepreneur Type Are You?

As Entrepreneurs, we share the desire to create freedom in our “work” and “life” through Entrepreneurship. We live in the Golden Age of Entrepreneurs. Right now, there are more and more opportunities available so we can fulfill our dreams.

Still, there are some Entrepreneurs reading this that are stuck in their business and their life. You know who you are. You can’t figure out why you’re not making progress or what to do next in your business.

The “missing link” could be the type of Entrepreneur you are. Understanding your motivation as an Entrepreneur can be the key to growing your business and reaching whatever milestone of success you’re striving to achieve.

1. The Skeptical Entrepreneur

Let’s get the worst type of Entrepreneur out of the way first. Those that are skeptical see others succeed and immediately start questioning every little thing. They examine that person’s business and looks for the “lucky” breaks or even the inheritance they think that those successful entrepreneurs received.

The Skeptical Entrepreneur

Maybe it’s the news or previous life experiences, but they are skeptical of success and don’t believe it’s possible without all the stars falling into place.

When you can’t see or believe success is possible, you’ll never get to a place in your mind that allows you to take action. Once stuck; you’ll make every excuse and believe it because of your skeptical mindset.
Once stuck that’s how you stay!

2. The Copycat Entrepreneur

This Entrepreneur sees the success of others and tries to copy them exactly. This means that their website and business cards are the same. Also how the way they brand and present themselves is the carbon copy of a leader in their industry.Copycat Entrepreneur

There is nothing wrong with modeling success—it’s actually very smart.

There is a fine line, however, between modeling and copying. Modeling success means you see what works and figure out how to make it relevant to your business, and who you are as a person. If you’re currently copying, then it’s time to be honest with yourself and switch to modeling.

3. The Research Entrepreneur

This Entrepreneur researches every possible scenario and outcome for strategies to start or grow a business. As this person loves to learn. There is nothing wrong with learning, but when that’s all you do, it becomes a problem.Research Niche

Too many Entrepreneurs fall victim to information overload. The key to success is learning and then implementing. The implementing has to happen.

4. The Determined Entrepreneur

This Entrepreneur hasn’t “made it” but they will, no matter what. They see the value in entrepreneurship, they see that success is possible without copying, and they do everything they can to start or grow their business.

Starting and growing a business is hard, and it takes time, but there is proof that it’s possible to thrive.

5. The Accomplished Entrepreneur

This Entrepreneur has gone through all the stages of entrepreneurship and building a business, and has reached success. They are now focused on scaling their business and leaving a legacy that extends beyond their lifetime.

These accomplished Entrepreneurs has figured out the things that will help you reach success. They understand their time is their most valuable resource so they use it wisely.

These people have figured out how to connect with their customer and how to solve their biggest problems. They are experiencing true freedom, but don’t believe they “make it”. As there is another frontier to explore and always more to achieve.

What Type of Entrepreneur are you?

Get honest about which one you are and which one you want to be. Face the truth and make a change if it needs to be made. Success will be different for each of us, but if you’re stuck, it could be because you’re not the type of Entrepreneur you should and want to be.

Success takes time. Decide what you want from your business and how that fits into your life.
