At Easy Biz Solutions we’ve always been a huge advocate for training and education – specifically, sales training. A large chunk of the entire business is anchored in the power of education.

In the last 5 years, that desire to learn and grow has been reinvigorated.

Your ability to expand your mind and strive for lifelong learning is critical to your success. By dedicating yourself to learning, you can get ahead in every aspect of your life.

Lifelong learning means exploring the things that make you tick, expanding your horizons and becoming an active participant in your personal and professional life.

I’m a huge fan of Tim Ferriss’s books. I loved The 4-Hour Workweek and The 4-Hour Chef.

So I was not surprised that his book Tools of Titans was a fantastic read. But was happy to find out there really is something for everyone in this book.

With this book, Ferriss has moved from books you can read fluidly cover-to-cover to more of an encyclopedic style.

To Be Successful…
You need to make the commitment and then take action.
The action needs to be planned and focused. You will get more done if you don’t chop and change.

You need to focus on one type of strategy, within your business plan.

You can’t be a successful Entrepreneur of any size business if you have a ‘Give-Me’ or ‘Owe-Me’ mindset like that of an Employee.

Likewise, you will need to focus your thinking and think about what you are thinking about. You become what you think about… so be a positive thinker.

I’ve attended several high-level seminars where all of the participants had invested at least hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars to be there and to build up their businesses. I have often looked around the audience and been amazed.

I see the obvious optimists and action-takers people who don’t make excuses and just get it done. In addition, there are people who have already been wildly successful with online business systems and that are taking things to the next level.

Also a handful of people, not many but definitely a few who I know aren’t going to get what they want and need out of this. Why? Because they’re the naysayers. They’re the people who, no matter what they have or are given, will find reasons NOT to do something.

Unfortunately, there are always a few at every Mastermind, Seminar or Summit. However, I’d argue that the masterminds I choose to attend have fewer than most. As these events are backed up by proven business programs and support systems.

Still, I can’t stand it.

These people come and they make a conscious choice to be negative and find every single reason they can’t do something. It’s exhausting. They take away from other attendees and they plant those dangerous seeds of doubt in at least a few people’s minds.

It’s frustrating those people paid money to be here and, equally importantly, invested themselves and their precious time. They don’t deserve to have some cranky participant raining on their parade. It’s not OK. And I want it to end.

One of the Most Common Complaints I Hear From these Naysayers?

In a Mastermind, Summit or Seminar it’s without a doubt; “information overload.” Just HEARING all of this is an enormous burden they’re being taught TOO MUCH.

Seriously?! That’s a silly complaint.

If you’re complaining about information overload at an INFORMATIONAL day or week-long event, then you need to take a good hard look at your expectations.

I’d guess that the person making that complaint is doing NOTHING with the information they’re being handed at the event. I’d guess they will just sit around, complain, and never take action. That’s why it feels like they’re overloaded. It has zero practical application – and that’s their fault.

So to these people – the negative forces, the naysayers, the people who are NEVER happy with anything—I say this. Take Action. Learn Something – even just ONE THING – and go do it, and do it well.

If you learn how to place ads on Facebook, buy $50 worth of ads immediately. Just take action. Drop the excuses and do something.

Whatever your excuse is or whatever is standing between you and success, DROP IT. You need to gain some perspective. You have lots of advantages and lots of positives in your corner. Look at the incredible access and opportunities being handed to you – for example by just by living in a first-world country, or that you’re even alive.

Those are just two reasons to NEVER complain. I am sure there is many more if you think about it.

His exact words: “Invert, always invert: Turn a situation or problem upside down. Look at it backward. What happens if all our plans go wrong? Where don’t we want to go, and how do you get there?

Instead of looking for success, make a list of how to fail instead – through sloth, envy, resentment, self-pity, entitlement, all the mental habits of self-defeat. Avoid these qualities and you will succeed.

Tell me where I’m going to die, that is, so I don’t go there.”

Most of the problems you’ll face in business will be internal problems.

I forget who said this, but someone once told me most businesses don’t die due to starvation – they die due to indigestion.

They make unforced errors – like mismanaging cashflow. Or hiring the wrong person. Or ignoring a customer complaint, which turns into a legal issue. Or having a lagging fulfilment process that can’t keep up with sales, etc.

All of these challenges can suck up cash very fast. And there’s a strange habit of them all showing up at once, at the most inconvenient times. This is why making predictions about what could go wrong, and then proactively fixing them is so important.

In the book, Grant Cardone covers how we underestimate what we can achieve as humans and often shoot for goals that are mediocre. The 10X Rule says to take what you think you want and multiply that by 10.

Now how much time is that going to take?

Multiply that by ten too. No matter how much time and effort you think something will take it’s going to take a lot more, if you guess 10 times more you will likely be safe. Plan for that.

If you feel fear, you should act, don’t let your fear take over what you do.

Grant Cardone is a salesman. So when he feels fear he picks up the phone and dials, instead of figuring out what he’s going to say and how he’s going to react, he can get through 20-30 calls by just acting without thinking. When that happens – eventually fear completely subsides or becomes minimized.

Also the book also goes into a few mantras for achieving success. These mantras are: success is important, success is your duty, and there is no shortage of success.

If success is something you are interested in then you definitely need to take this books advice and plan to achieve a ton of it so as you aren’t going to be left behind.

Throughout the book, you’ll discover some of Grant’s most compelling secrets. These concepts have fueled his own achievements and continue to drive his brand forward.

I’ll just say it: I’m sick of the whiners. I’m sick of people who hit a bump in the road and completely shut down.

I get it sometimes being in business is hard. But, as Entrepreneurs, we get paid to find and execute SOLUTIONS, not to sit in the corner and complain about how hard or unfair things are.

But this isn’t just about you this is also about the people you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with successful people—successful entrepreneurs, business leaders, innovators, marketers, doers you’ll be more likely to be successful.

If you surround yourself with the opposite – with people who aren’t solution-oriented. That spend their days whining and complaining they’re only going to pull you down.

The Importance of a Solution-Oriented Team

This is especially true when those people are your team—the employees you’ve brought on board, trained and supported.

If they aren’t strategic and solution-oriented. If they’re whiners and complainers who expect everything to be done for them then your business really can’t thrive, at least not to its fullest potential.Teamwork isVital to MoraleWhile that sounds pretty straightforward, in my experience hiring the right people are not always as simple as it seems.

It’s easy to say you don’t hire couples or significant others of employees or friends and family—that’s black and white. But it’s hard to make a rule about not-so-solution-oriented people sometimes, they disguise themselves as motivated and committed workers.

Then BAM! The truth hits you and your company like a ton of bricks.

So … How Do You Spot Them?

All of that said, my warnings are simple: if someone complains and whines in their interview or during any part of the hiring process, chances are that’s not going to get any better.

In fact, it’s probably going to get worse. Even if the person looks perfect on paper, don’t assume these interactions are some sort of a fluke. They probably aren’t.

The Reality?

The best, most experiences and most creative people can have the energy and enthusiasm beaten out of them after spending a few years in the corporate world. Maybe their intuitiveness and excitement weren’t appreciated by their previous companies.

Now, when something goes wrong, they’re comfortable just complaining instead of rolling up their sleeves and digging in. And it’s not your job to try and right that course.

It’s your job to run a successful company and that’s NOT made up of high-potential complainers.

It’s made up of people who get the job done. Period.

Ideally, during the interview process you’ll have an opportunity to give candidates a personality test or a lengthly test to see how they deal with problems. That would be ideal!

If you can’t swing it, don’t be afraid to do multiple interviews. Someone may seem great at first glance, but when they’re more comfortable may show their true colors.

Throughout every hiring exercise, remind yourself this: you want, need and DESERVE go-getters. These people stumble on problems and work to fix them immediately.

To them, every challenge is an opportunity and when they do present the next issue to you it’s always paired with a solution, a suggestion or some course of action.

Stop SignToxic employees can and will bring ya down so just STOP.

Stop hiring them… Stop making excuses for them…. Stop indulging them… Just STOP!

And if and when one creeps into your organization, weed them out ASAP and don’t feel bad about it.

If they deserved the job, they didn’t and they WON’T. So, simply, move on. And never look back.
